Patterns From the Soil is a series of images of produce that highlight their individual textures, colors, and contrast inspired by my own experience with food.
Growing up, my family and I had dinner together every night. When we were too young to eat an entire salad, my mom matched the number of vegetables we were made to eat to our age. When I was three I was served three pieces, when I was five I was served five, and so on. My siblings and I were far too smart to be tricked into eating these vegetables however, and we resorted to hiding them in different places around the table. The candle was always a hotspot.
