Dubai has grown dramatically over the last twenty years, attracting waves of expatriates to settle in and call its desert home. It has lured people from all over the world, promising to fulfill expat fantasies of success and an eccentric lifestyle. Dubai generously delivers on its promises, but at times it fails, often comically. Catering these dreams to a diverse population coming from more than one hundred countries results in a multicultural and often contradictory potpourri of symbols and ideas. The Dubai dream is as multifaceted as its people.
